Napa Wineries You Can Walk To | Yountville's Mile of Wineries | No Driving Required

Local Wally takes you on a Walking Wine Tasting adventure through Yountville, 2 for 1 tastings, FREE coupons, BEST restaurants.

Wine Tasting Without Driving in Napa

Visiting Napa: Walking the Mile of Wineries in Yountville

What do you do when you're in Napa and you don't have a car, can't afford a driver or tour, but still a day of wine tasting? Simple.  You put on your sneakers and and visit the tasting rooms of Yountville, Napa Valley’s quaintest little town. That's right, no driving, no risk of getting pulled over, it’s a great solution for getting a taste of Napa without driving.

Park your car at the southern tip of Yountville in the morning and then put those keys away. The entire walk is about a mile with plenty of stops along the way for wine and food. And don't think that this walking agenda is only for those without a car. It's a great introduction to the delights of Napa and perfect for your first day or afternoon in town.

And good news, some of these will take your Priority Wine Pass for two for one’s.

Bouchon Bakery in Yountville, a perfect first stop. (Napa Valley)

But First, Breakfast, Napa Style

Start the Day with Coffee and Pastries - then wine!

Start your day early with a good cup of coffee and exceptional pastries from Bouchon Bakery, one of Thomas Keller's establishments. You know Keller, he's the chef responsible for The French Laundry located down the street, often considered the best restaurant - in the world. The baked goods will more than exceed your expectations - get some macaroons!

Bouchon Bakery | 6534 Washington St, Yountville, CA 94599

Oh, you want a breakfast sandwich instead? On a buttery homemade English Muffin? Then go to Model Bakery where their English Muffins are legendary.

Model Bakery | 6523 Washington St, Yountville, CA 94599

Follow this agenda stop by stop for the Yountville “Mile of Wineries” walking and tasting experience!

Wineries are listed in geographical order starting from the south tip of Yountville and ending at the north. Tastings last anywhere from an hour to 90 minutes so you can’t hit them all on one trip but that just gives you another reason to return, right?

Photo credit to each winery unless noted.

The French Laundry, Napa’s most famous restaurant. Photo by Local Wally.

The French Laundry

No, no, no, I’m not telling you to pop into TFL for lunch. Well, not unless you have reservations and can afford to drop a thousand bucks for two. I’m telling you to go to the front of the building and take your photo in front of their brass logo sign and in front of the door. Instagam this and all of your friends will be so impressed when you post “Stopped by The French Laundry today…”.

If you just can’t get enough of Thomas Keller head over to Finesse, his store that sells lots of kitchen goodies as well as branded items with TFL logo. And if you have time to dream, check out my experience dining there.

Not a tasting room. Not a winery. Wildcrafted Wines is more of a service that connects you with wines and winemakers on a very personal level. Explore wines in an outdoor setting, perhaps next to the vineyard, or they’ll come to your home or VBRO and do a custom tasting experience suited to your requests. Private chef? Yes, they set that up to.
